International Trade and TRADE-DSM® User Group Conference

On 11 and 12 September, an interesting cross-section of trade experts and policymakers in South Africa gathered in Pretoria to attend a conference convened by the NWU under the WTO Chairs Programme in collaboration with TRADE Advisory. Day 1 focused on the unfolding events in the international trade arena, including progress with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) while Day 2 was aimed at users of the TRADE-DSM®. International guest speakers Dr Mustapha Sadni Jallab (IDEP at UNECA) spoke on ‘The effect of the AfCFTA on trade flows in Africa: Some empirical evidence’ and Prof Reid Whitlock (National Agricultural Export Development Board of Rwanda) spoke on ‘Rwanda’s road to prosperity - the role of agricultural exports’. At the TRADE-DSM® session, the facilitators demonstrated the model’s new functionality and shared some of TRADE’s and TRADE Advisory’s latest research findings.

See the press release on the event.
