ASSIST A STUDENT CAMPAIGN

COVID-19 pandemic left a lot of South Africans unemployed. One of BA Honours Tourism Management students ended up in a vulnerable and financially stranded situation after the parent was on unpaid leave due to lockdown regulations. As a result, the parent was unable to send money to support the student, with either transport fare, accommodation, data and food.

The School of Tourism Management in Mahikeng Campus managed to step in through their ‘Assist a student Community Engagement Project’. The staff members in the school agreed to raise funds from their own pockets. A total amount of R6000.00 was raised, and accommodation, food and data was provided for the student over four months.
