COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DURING COVID-19

This year has most certainly been the definition of Annus Horribilis, and for the school’s Community Engagement portfolio, it has also been a challenging time. Around 90% of the school’s planned projects for the year had to be placed on ice for the time being or postponed to next year due to the situation we are currently facing with the pandemic. Some of our projects continued online, but many were of such a nature that this was not a viable option. The lockdown period has not, however, been without its advantages.

During the time when no projects were running, the school’s Community Engagement conveners were able to brainstorm and plan for the year ahead. In addition, various strategies and processes were streamlined and standardized for implementation in the coming months. The Community Engagement  Committee were hard at work during these “quiet” times and engaged in numerous meetings via Zoom to discuss and solve some pressing issues. Even though COVID-19 threw us a curveball earlier this year, we are now prepared and ready to commence with various CE projects across all three campuses in 2021.
