
Prof. Dr. Arnold Bakker is Professor and Chair of Work and Organisational Psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is also an Extraordinary Professor under the Management Cybernetics research entity at North-West University, contributing to the StudyWell: Student Well-Being Initiative. He is internationally recognised for developing the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model. His research focuses on student and employee well-being, engagement, and job crafting. With nearly 500 publications, Bakker is one of the most cited researchers in Positive Organisational Psychology. He has developed widely used assessment tools, including the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale and the Job Crafting Scale, and has been listed among Thomson Reuters’ “Most Influential Scientific Minds” since 2013. A past president of the European Association of Work and Organisational Psychology, Bakker serves on the editorial boards of leading journals and collaborates with international researchers. His work on StudyWell applies both the JD-R and Study Demands-Resources (SD-R) theories to advance research on student well-being in higher education.
