Prof. Dr. Bernd Eisenstein is Director of the German Institute for Tourism Research (DITF) and Professor for Tourism Demand at the West Coast University of Applied Sciences as well as Member of the International Institute of Management and Economic Education at Europa-Universität Flensburg/Germany. He has also been Extraordinary Professor at the TREES of North-West University in Potchefstrom since 2020. He studied geography, business administration and economics and received his doctorate on wine tourism. He was a fellow of a scientific foundation, has edited more than a dozen books and written numerous publications. He is currently a member of the German Society for Tourism Studies (DGT) and a board member of the working group on tourism research of the German Geographical Society. Eisenstein enjoys giving frequent lectures at professional events. His current research focuses on tourism acceptance by the destination population, tourism market segmentation, the behaviour of business travellers, projects on destination image and destination brands, the consequences of tourism and control systems for destination development.
