Background

Dr Emmanuel Orkoh an Extra-ordinary Research Scientist in the TRADE research entity of the North-West University (NWU) where I will complete my PhD in Economics in 2019. I currently work on a short-term basis with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva, Switzerland. I am a member of the African Growth and Development Policy Modeling Consortium (AGRODEP), Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences (BITSS), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Virtual Institute and Pan-African Scientific Research Council (PASRC). I have contributed to the establishment of a university-based data Centre (Centre for Data Archiving, Analysis and Advocacy (C-DAMAA)) at the School of Economics of the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. I have also worked on a number of research projects for international institutions such as the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development (UONGOZI Institute) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). My research focuses on the distributional impact of international trade, health and labour market policies in sub-Saharan Africa and other developing countries. I have recently expanded my scope of research to include the welfare and fiscal implication of digital development.
