
Michael Takudzwa Pasara (PhD) has more than a decade and half accumulated experience including a decade of experience in economic consultancy, strategic planning, business development, project management and policy advocacy. He has consulted for and worked with various international, regional and local institutions and organisations and participated in several high-level negotiations and policy advocacy and formulations. He has consulted for and worked with various regional and local institutions and organisations which include Research Foundation State University of New York, USA; Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) South Africa; Department of Higher Education Training (DHET) South Africa; Duetscher Genossenschafts-Un Raiffeisenverband E.V (German Co- Operative And Raiffeisen Confideration) (DGRV) Germany; Parliament of Zimbabwe; the Zimbabwe National Cooperative Federation (ZNCF), African Economic Research Consortium (AERC); Africa Disability Association; African Forum on Debt and Development (AFRODAD), the Southern African Parliamentary Trust (SAPST); African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF); United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); UNU-WIDER; Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (FELM), Finland; Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA); Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD); Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Zimbabwe; Ministry of Women Affairs, Zimbabwe, and several local municipalities, international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and private sector businesses and universities across the globe.
Michael is currently an Extraordinary Research Scientist with TRADE North-West University since 2024; an academic with the University of Zimbabwe and the Managing Director of Black Sesame Consulting. He has extensive experience in research and publications in various internationally indexed journals and book editorial. Some of his research outputs focus on macroeconomics, international trade and finance public finance management (PFM) and policy, social inclusion, and governance, sustainable development, climate change impacts, among others. These projects employ various quantitative and qualitative methodologies such as mathematics, statistics, simulations and econometrics and some of the work has been presented at various national and international conferences. Michael is also part of various regional and international networks which include the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), the Economic Society of South Africa (ESSA), the Pan-African Scientific Research Committee (PASRC)(Fellow) and the International Golden Key Honour Society International and have several awards.
