Prof. Yusuf Opeyemi Akinwale is an extraordinary research professor at North-West University, Vanderbijlpark Campus, South Africa, and he has been an associate professor at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (Formerly University of Dammam), Saudi Arabia. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at North-West University previously after his MSc (University of Aberdeen, UK) and PhD at African Institute for Science Policy and Innovation (Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria).

Prof. Akinwale has participated in the teaching of various courses such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, business economics, managerial economics, research methodology, health economics and principles of finance among others at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has impacted life long knowledge and skills in his students for more than a decade.

He has published many peer-reviewed articles in highly ranked journals, books, chapters in a book, and conference proceedings in various international conferences. His areas of interest include trade openness, economics of innovation and entrepreneurship, energy and developmental studies. He has also served as reviewers for many journals and member of scientific boards in conferences
