Newlands Cricket Ground (NCG)

The iconic Newlands Cricket Ground (NCG) was founded in 1888 and is widely regarded as amongst the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world, with the backdrop of the world-famous Table Mountain. The precinct is a world-class multi-use facility providing a unique experience for players, spectators, conference delegates, students, and entrepreneurs. Approximately R800 million (USD50 million) has been invested into the exciting new Newlands Cricket Ground’s development by the co-owners Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA), Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Sanlam Insurance Limited in the last five years.

The development encompassed four new buildings earmarked for commercial use, which included the construction of three brand new event venues, The Newlands Experience - a visual walkthrough of the history of Newlands and cricket in South Africa and the Wicket Hall - a multi-function facility able to accommodate up to 800 people.

In addition, the cricket grounds offer outdoor spaces for events with breath taking views of Table Mountain. We invite event and conference producers, academic institutions and associations to view Newlands Cricket Ground as a blank canvas on which to create events and conferences they can be justifiably proud of.

Public Transport:

The Myciti busses stop on Main Road and this system is easy to connect to the airport and most parts of the

city. Delegates can walk from Main Road over the pedestrian footbridge to access Newlands. Taxis are available from Campground Road and Main Road.

Parking:

Newlands Cricket Ground offers 800 undercover parking bays in the new business precinct.

Technology:

A fibre backbone runs throughout the Cricket Ground to give guests and delegates the best possible

connectivity experience. High-speed wireless infrastructure is available to support event streaming for virtual and hybrid formats of events.

About 160 hotel rooms are available within walking distance at the Southern Sun Newlands Hotel, with a further 850 rooms in hotels and Airbnb establishments within a 20-minute radius.
