Prof. Matthew Timothy Mullarkey is a Professor of Instruction in the School of Information Systems at the University of South Florida, where he contributes to teaching, research, and student mentorship within the Muma College of Business. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, an MBA from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Prof. Mullarkey’s research focuses on innovation and the practical application of emerging technologies, including digital transformation, healthcare information systems, cybersecurity, smart cities, and data analytics. His work reflects a strong emphasis on bridging theoretical frameworks with real-world implementation, particularly in complex organizational environments.

Before transitioning to academia, Prof. Mullarkey accumulated more than 30 years of professional experience in industry. He served in senior executive roles such as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) across sectors including automotive, medical devices, and engineering. He is also a serial entrepreneur who has founded and successfully exited multiple ventures.

Among his notable achievements, Prof. Mullarkey is a Fulbright Scholar and has secured significant external research funding, including grants from organizations such as the National Science Foundation. His combined academic and industry expertise informs his applied teaching approach and ongoing contributions to the field of information systems.
