Prof Gowokani Chirwa is an Economist with expertise in Health Economics. He obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of York, UK, where he was based at the Centre for Health Economics. His primary research interests include health economics, global health economics, inequality, and poverty, with a particular focus on multidimensional poverty.

Notably, his research in low- and middle-income countries emphasizes micro-econometric applications in the economic evaluation of public health interventions, the measurement of socioeconomic inequalities and determinants of health, decomposition methods, empirical policy impact evaluation, and quasi-experimental methods.

Prof has also served as a consultant for various esteemed institutions, including the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), WHO, GIZ, ODI, UNICEF, and IPFRI, among others.
