Enactus

Enactus NWU is part of the global Enactus network, a student-led organisation dedicated to community empowerment through social entrepreneurship. Enactus mobilises students, academic leaders, and business professionals to develop entrepreneurial projects that positively impact local communities.

  • Eligibility: Open to all NWU students, Enactus strives to promote a culture of social entrepreneurship among students, equip students to create sustainable, scalable solutions that address community needs and bridges classroom learning with community engagement to make a measurable social impact.
  • Benefits of Participation: Practical experience in managing and executing community-centred business projects, opportunities to develop valuable leadership, teamwork, and project management skills and gain access to a global network of prominent companies and leaders, providing career opportunities and exposure.

Student Women Economic Empowerment Programme (SWEEP)

SWEEP aims to empower female students by fostering their economic independence, professional growth, and leadership skills. NWU SWEEP aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment where female students can develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and networks to excel in traditionally male-dominated fields, while promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and diversity, ensuring that all participants have equal opportunities to thrive and contribute to society.

  • Eligibility: SWEEP is open to all NWU students who identify as female and are passionate about entrepreneurship.

Student Training for Entrepreneurial Promotion (STEP)

STEP is a dynamic training initiative designed to foster practical entrepreneurial skills among students. The program equips participants with the tools, knowledge, and mindset needed to start and sustain small-scale enterprises, focusing on innovation and practical implementation.

  • Eligibility: STEP is open to NWU students from any field of study who are enthusiastic about entrepreneurship. Participants should be willing to dedicate time to project development and team activities throughout the duration of the 13-week program.
  • Benefits of Participation: Real-world business experience through project-based learning, access to mentoring from experienced entrepreneurs and business professionals, and networking opportunities with fellow aspiring entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurship Bootcamps

These bootcamps are intensive workshops designed for students who want to develop or scale their side-hustles. The bootcamps are ideal for individuals looking to generate additional income through part-time entrepreneurial activities.

  • Eligibility: Open to all NWU students who seek immediate, practical skills for developing and growing a side-hustle.
  • Benefits of Participation:Hands-on training covering ideation and business concept development, and networking with other side-hustlers and mentors.
