Prof Derick Blaauw attends research conference in Namibia
From 13-14 October 2016, Prof Derick Blaauw was in Windhoek in Namibia to deliver a paper at the 8th Annual Research Conference of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) at the University of Namibia (UNAM). The theme of the conference was ‘Directing research towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’. Prof Blaauw’s paper, which he co-authored with colleagues from the University of the Western Cape and the University of Illinois in Chicago, was titled 'The socioeconomic incorporation of migrant and native-born day labourers in Tshwane, South Africa'. The paper was well received and the conference provided an ideal opportunity to establish new contacts and explore avenues for possible future research collaboration.
