The Centre was initially supported by NUFFIC (Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education) and initiated in 2011

We offer the following programmes:

  • Student business competitions to encourage and support student entrepreneurship. 
  • Student entrepreneurship societies: YEBO is a unique student organisation and its aim is to motivate university students to heed the call of entrepreneurship. 
  • Enactus Vaal focuses on community based projects and the aim is to too grow the projects, make them sustainable and create jobs. 
  • The Enterprising Women Programme  is 8 Month business support programme aimed at new / early-stage businesses. 
  • Green Learnership Programme is aimed at producing business and workforce-ready young leaders.  The programme focuses on the low carbon economy sector, hosted in partnership with The Innovation Hub & Industry Partners.
  • CoachLab@Vaal is an internship programme for Honors & Master students in IT, hosted in partnership with The Innovation Hub & Industry Partners.
  • The Incubation Programme contributes towards the development of an entrepreneurial culture and increased entrepreneurial activity amongst North West University students, staff and the Vaal Triangle community. This includes: Pre-incubation; Incubation and Entry-level business support.
  • SoftLandings South Africa is an initiative of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and the North West University’s Vaal Triangle Campus, with the intention of supporting and enabling Dutch Small and Medium Enterprises wishing to explore and do business in South Africa


Students from the NWU Vaal Campus and any entrepreneur from our community (60km radius around campus) can apply for the incubation programme.
