More details can be found here: http://www.nwu.ac.za/trade/events/2015#GVC2 On Monday 25th of January 2016, the TRADE research entity hosted a Global Value Chain Analysis roundtable, presented by Dr Sonja Grater. The aim of the roundtable was to give a broad overview of the different levels of empirical methods that can be used to analyse global value chains Participants that attended were from the North-West University, as well as various organisations such as SAIIA, the dti, and the North West provincial government Sonja Grater is a senior lecturer in the School of Economics at the North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus). Global Value Chain analysis is a complex matter and can involve various levels of firm-level and sector-level empirical research The roundtable also exposed the participants to the various databases that exist, such as the OECD-WTO TIVA database, the World Input Output Database (WIOD) and the Eora MRIO Database. On tuesday 15 May 2016, the second Global Value Chains roundtable of 2016 was held at TRADE. Dr Makube presented on DTI local content requirements at the second GVC roundtable of 2016. Dr Tebogo Makube is currently employed as Chief Director: Industrial Procurement, Department of Trade and Industry. Once again, individuals from the North-West University, as well as various other organisations such as SAIIA, the dti, and the North West provincial government attended the roundtable. Mr Martin Cameron also presented on a independent power producers (IPP) specific case study. Mr Martin Cameron is an independent consultant & quantitative economist specialising in the field of Quantitative Executive Decision Support modelling, Economic Impact Analysis & Engineering Management Decision Support.
