Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – SSIRC
Question: Is the SSIRC conference DHET-accredited?
Answer: The SSIRC conference (and its predecessor, ICSS) has been in existence since 2016. All previous conference proceedings have been accredited by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The conference consistently adheres to DHET subsidy requirements, including the double-blind peer review process and all other stipulated criteria.
Question: Is the SSIRC conference linked to accredited journals?
Answer: Currently, there are no journals linked to the SSIRC conference. The conference publishes conference proceedings only.
Question: What are the publication outlets/formats for the SSIRC proceedings?
Answer: The SSIRC proceedings are currently published through two possible outlets:
- SSIRC Website – SSIRC Proceedings published on the SSIRC website hosted by the North-West University (NWU)
- Springer Nature – SSIRC Proceedings published by Springer Nature,
NB: A paper may be published only in one outlet/format – no double dipping.
Question: What types of submissions can I make?
Answer: The SSIRC accepts two types of submissions:
- Full Paper (Competitive Paper):
- Eligible for publication in the conference proceedings.
- Abstract (Work-in-Progress):
- 350–500 words, accepted for presentation purposes only, not eligible for publication in the conference proceedings.
Question: What are the templates and publication agreements for these two outlets?
Template for the full paper – Springer Nature
Publication agreements or Licence to Publish will be issued only upon acceptance of a paper for publication. The signed agreement must be returned along with the final language-edited version of the paper and proof or a certificate of language editing.
Question: What should the length of the paper/word count be?
Answer: The manuscript should not exceed 15 pages (prepared using the right template), including the reference list.
