Culinary tourism

Our research focusing on the culinary festival and event visitors includes marketing and economic impact analyses as well as the markets information preferences, their environmentally friendly behaviour, motivations, memorable experiences and behavioural intentions. This research makes valuable theoretical and practical contributions aimed at not only South Africa, but the strategies proposed in the research can be used by other developing countries wanting to expand on culinary tourism. Current research projects include:

  • Tasting experiences at national arts festivals
  • Analysing the South African wine consumer (national survey in collaboration with TOPS @ Spar Wine Show)
