TRADE participates in projects aimed at unlocking business potential
At the beginning of 2015, TRADE was commissioned by the North West Provincial Government and the North West Development Corporation to develop a manufacturing strategy for the province, focusing on key economic opportunity areas and recommending specific steps that provincial authorities should take to boost manufacturing capacity, create jobs and ignite sustainable economic growth in the North West.
In recent months, two members of the TRADE team, Prof Marianne Matthee and Ms Carli Bezuidenhout, have been collaborating with Stellenbosch University in a UNU-WIDER/National Treasury project aimed at extracting South African firm-level data from tax records and other sources with a view to segmenting various industries more precisely and highlighting those sectors with strong growth potential.
