Dr Kezell Klinck receives the NWU Media and Organisational Citizenship Behaviour Recognition Award

On 22 May 2025, Dr Kezell Klinck, from the Mahikeng Campus, was honoured with the prestigious NWU Silver Wings Award, which recognises staff members who embody the spirit, character, and core values of the university. This award is granted to individuals who have been actively quoted in traditional, digital, and social media, and who consistently promote the NWU’s identity, culture, and values through their conduct and contributions. Dr Klinck's recognition reflects not only her visible presence in public discourse but also her sustained demonstration of organisational citizenship, professionalism, and alignment with the university's mission and vision.

At the MTN SME Connect event on 21 May 2025, Dr Kezelle Klinck from North-West University (NWU) delivered an inspiring address highlighting the critical role of academic institutions in supporting SMEs and fostering inclusive economic growth. NWU’s School of Management Sciences, Mahikeng Campus, was well represented by seven staff members, reflecting the university’s strategic commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry collaboration. The event showcased MTN’s evolution into a technology solutions provider for small businesses, promoting partnerships that bridge academia and industry. It also encouraged broader stakeholder engagement to strengthen regional development and empower emerging entrepreneurs in today’s digital economy.

Prof Mia Bothma strengthens the NWU's international ties

As part of our ongoing commitment to global engagement and academic collaboration, Prof Mia Bothma, from the Marketing programme, recently took part in an Erasmus+ staff teaching exchange at Hochschule Burgenland in Austria. The exchange focused on sharing expertise in e-commerce, marketing metrics, and international marketing within the context of two programmes. This enriching experience not only contributed to cross-cultural learning but also strengthened our institutional ties—highlighting the transformative impact of international partnerships in higher education. Bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world experience, the School of Management Sciences (NWU) recently hosted Mr Solly Segooa, chief risk officer at the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA), for a thought-provoking guest lecture titled “Understanding and managing risk in entrepreneurship”.
